About Me
I have spent almost my entire life connected with the world of special education. My mother, Mary Ann Key, founded Key School in Fort Worth, Texas (now known as Key Center for Learning Differences ) the year I was born and, as a result, I spent much of my formative life around teachers and students. As a toddler, I played under her teaching table while she taught. Later, I was a student at Key School as a child, then a classroom aide as a teenager, and finally, as an adult, I worked for Key School as a lead teacher and Academic Language Therapist (ALT).
After completing degrees in secondary education and educational administration, I embarked on a 25-year career as an English language and literature teacher, living and working in various countries around the world where I met my husband, Ian - a designer and educator.
In 2013, I returned to my learning support roots and became certified as an educational diagnostician. My experiences as a learning support specialist and classroom teacher provide me a unique skill set that enables me not only to identify learning issues but also give practical suggestions on strategies for both student and teacher to best address them.
After years abroad, I am excited to be serving the needs of those living in central and north Texas.
